What’s New With mazu:
Whether you’re a sailor, powerboater, or cruiser, there’s no denying that keeping an eye on weather conditions and knowing your weather window is vital for a successful journey. With mazu and the mSeries system, it has always been our mission to keep users connected wherever their journey takes them while remaining affordable and easy-to-use. We’re very excited to announce that with version 2.1 of mazu, your cruising sailing experience just became even better.
Just this year we added GRIB wind and wave functionality to mazu, allowing sailors to download up to 7 days of GRIB wind and wave in one report. GRIB files are an incredibly useful forecast to have on hand, and have been a huge hit with mazu users and an incredible enhancement for the app. The ability to download GRIB reports over wifi while onshore for later use helps cut down on data usage and cost. Additionally, users can choose smaller GRIB area sizes and timeframes while offshore to download specific sections that also helps save data while connected with satellite.
Version 2.1 GRIB Slider:
One of the best features of the latest 2.1 mazu version is the new GRIB slider. Users now have the ability to download and view their 7 day wind or wave GRIB and visually update it every 6 hours using the GRIB slider at the bottom of the screen. With this feature, you can easily track wind or wave information and view the progress of any weather systems moving your way. mazu’s GRIB slider also works with wave forecasts so you can always keep an eye on changing wave heights! We used mazu’s GRIB slider to track the progress of hurricane Irma as it passed over the Dominican Republic.
